From June 27th until June 30th, the 3rd EWaS Internation Conference took place in Lefkada, Greece. The conference focuses on efficient water systems giving insights on the Water-Food-Energy Nexus. With three speakers, Daniele, Irene and Jan, the Dwr-Uisce project was well represented. Oreste Fecarotta, who visited the project at the end of 2016, and Miguel Crespo Chacon, working on our sister project ReDawn also presented at this conference.
The work developed by Daniele Novara, titled ‘The development of a decision support software for the design of Micro-Hydropower schemes utilizing a Pump as Turbine’ , and the work developed by Irene Fernández, titled ‘Potential micro-hydropower generation in community-owned rural water supply networks in Ireland’ were presented during a special session, called 'Small-scale hydropower generation in urban and rural areas: the hydraulic and mechanical analysis of energy recovery in water systems'. Jan Spriet's work, titled ' Decentralized drain water heat recovery: interaction between wastewater and heating flows on a single residence scale’ was presented during the 'Urban Water Management' session.
