Future Water Security in a Changing Climate
It is important to quantify the resource implications arising from climate change in Ireland and Wales and its knock-on effects on water availability, energy consumption and the economy. The work will feed into the energy efficiency and energy recovery work and provide future scenarios of water supply and demand that may affect the technology platforms developed by the project team, and disseminated through the Ireland-Wales Water-Energy network as policy recommendations for climate change adaption in the sector.
Water resources impact & adaption
Climate change will impact on water resources in Ireland and Wales. Using climate change models, the impacts of future policy scenarios on water availability in the region up to 2050 will be assessed.
Water demand impact & adaption
Similarly, the demand of water will be impacted by climate change, as changes in seasonal temperatures will alter current water patterns.
